| The
first thing you'll notice when you compare Comfortaire to
Select Comfort is the difference in price, and you'll be
wondering, how can Comfortaire be so much less than
Select Comfort. The answer is that Comfortaire has
structured their marketing plan a little differently than Select
Comfort, deciding not to spend the millions in advertising that
Select Comfort does. This gives Comfortaire the freedom
to charge less for their mattresses than Select Comfort. Its
that simple.
Select Comfort
mattresses use a foam divider that runs down the middle of the
bed between the two air bladders. This creates a very distinct
barrier between the two sides of the bed, which can be an
obvious disadvantage. Comfortaire has designed their
bladders to butt up against each other, making this foam divider
unnecessary.
Comfortaire
has chosen to have all of their controls (two controls per
mattress) hard wired to the mattress while a few of the Select
Comfort models come with a single remote control. The hardwired
system is the most reliable and durable available, with the
added advantage of never having to search for a lost remote.
Comfortaire
has designed their air chambers to run vertically (head to toe)
while Select Comfort's run horizontally (side to side). Is their
really a difference in sleep comfort because of which way the
chambers run? Probably not. The chambers are designed to
distribute the air evenly when weight is on the bed, which both
systems do.
Select Comfort
makes a very fine product and many people have chosen to make
the leap into air sleep because of their comprehensive
advertising campaign. One thing that should be remembered,
however, is that the Select Comfort Air Sleep System is a direct
result of the innovations and imagination of Comfortaire,
the original air sleep system, and still the best. |
